Meet Lena N.

Lena Hyde Nuñez is a meditation and Feldenkrais teacher, somatic therapist, ancestral lineage holder, and writer who is dedicated to deepening connection within ourselves, with each other, and with nature.
She is passionate about somatics and has seen it build tolerance for the unknown and increase resilience and spontaneity in the lives of many. For over two decades, she has studied and practiced a wide range of methods that support becoming aware of the perceived self-images and body maps we hold in our brains. She believes that this awareness creates an opening between our internalized structures and beliefs about ourselves, on one hand, and true choice, creativity and sovereignty, on the other hand. She is thrilled that current scientific research has caught up with what she and her teachers have known for a long time: methods such as Feldenkrais don’t just improve motor coordination and reduce pain, tension, and stress. They also increase the brain’s ability to reorganize itself (neuroplasticity) for better cognitive functioning. This is why Lena has studied various methodologies with many different teachers and schools, including: Feldenkrais, Hanna Somatics, Somatic Breathwork, Somatic Meditation, Qigong, Body-Mind Centering, Bonnie Bainbridge-Cohen, Alexander Technique, MOC School of Participatory Arts, Barre Center for Buddhist Studies, the San Francisco Zen Center, and the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion.
Lena is also a communication skills and collaborative leadership facilitator and works with various nonprofits in California and Latin America — including Eureka’s Ink People Center for Arts and Culture. She is the Co-founder of the non-profit Vital Stories, which offers workshops combining somatics, Anapanasati, and Satipatthana with writing, social theater, and other art forms.
